Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association expresses its grief on the sad demise of PROMINENT SENIOR JOURNALIST AND AFP/REUTER CORRESPONDENT MR. IZHAR WANI who passed away today i.e., 04th of April 2012 at SKIMS Soura Srinagar after a prolonged ailment. The Bar Association while condoling the death of the deceased, expresses its deep sympathies and solidarity with the members of the bereaved family in this hour of grief and pray to Almighty to grant solace and peace to the departed soul and give courage to the members of the bereaved family to bear the shock.
In an extra ordinary meeting of the Bar Association rich tributes were paid to the departed soul. In the meeting his contribution in the field of journalism especially with reference to the projection of Kashmir situation for the last 22 years in World Media is laudable and praiseworthy. Mr. Izhar Wani was a skillful professional journalist with integrity and honesty besides having the projection of the concerns of his people as a passion. The death of Izhar Wani is a great loss to the Kashmiri nation whose death has created a vacuum which cannot be filled-up. Mr. Izhar Wani is fair, un-baised and courageous reporting about the events which took place in Kashmir past more than 22 years is in itself a great contribution to the freedom struggle. In the meeting it was observed that Bar Association considers the death of Izhar Wani as a personal loss.
