In view of the programme of JRL, the members of J&K High Court Bar Association, Srinagar, held a protest demonstration in the High Court Complex, Srinagar today and while raising slogans for stopping human rights violations in the State being committed by Indian Armed Forces, also appealed the members of the International community to wake up from the deep slumber and play their role in bringing the human rights violations in the State to an end. It was also stated that the main reason of the human rights violation in the State is the non-resolution of the Kashmir dispute and that once Kashmir issue is resolved in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people and they are given an opportunity to decide about their future, in a free and fair plebiscite to be held under the auspices of United Nations, the violations will come to an end automatically. There will be thereafter no killing on the borders and people will feel secured and there will be also no danger of war between the two neighboring countries, who are at draggers drawn for the last 70 years on the issue of Kashmir. It was also stated that we should strengthen our rank and file and work cohesively and jointly for achieving the right of self-determination and should not give any opportunity to anyone to cause any dissension in our ranks we should remain united till we achieve our goal and foil all attempts which are aimed at to break our will by arresting and detaining us and lodging in jails outside the State. Those who spoke on the occasion include Mr. M. A. Qayoom, President; Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, General Secretary and Mr. G. N. Shaheen, Advocate etc.
Meanwhile, in a condolence meeting, the members expressed their grief over the sad demise of the mother of Mr. D. A. Rashid, Legal Correspondent of Daily Greater Kashmir and it was prayed to Almighty Allah to rest his soul in peace and give courage to the bereaved family members to bear the loss.
