An extraordinary meeting of Kashmir Bar Association was convened today in which the cabinet order No. 94/7 dated 20.05.2008 followed by Govt. order no. 184-FST of 2008 dated 26.05.2008 regarding the transfer of forest land to the Shrine Board was thread bear discussed. It was observed that by transferring the said land to the shrine board is illegal. That it was felt that a conspiracy has been hatched against the character and status of Muslim Majority State of Jammu and Kashmir. In order to launch result oriented and meaningful campaign against the said action of the state the Bar Association shall be taking appropriate measures in this behalf and shall also expose the Govt. designs and the politicians behind this move.
The Bar Association has insisted the Govt. to revoke the order as early as possible. The people of Jammu and Kashmir believe in religious tolerance and universal brotherhood. We are not against the Amarnath pilgrimage (Yatra) infact we feel that the Yatris should be provided all the facilities those can be made available to them by the concerned departments who have been previously undertaking the job instead of transferring such land to the shrine board. Incase the state govt. fails to revoke the cabinet order the effective course of action will be undertaken by the Bar Association by involving people from all walks of life.
A copy of the order mentioned herein above is released to the press for people’s perusal.
