The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Srinagar condemns the Govt. action of push back of the noted Human Rights Activist and columnist Goutam Navlakha at Srinagar Airport on his way from Delhi to Shopian where Mr. Goutam Navlakha was to attend the 3rd Death Anniversary of Asiya and Nelofar. The govt. on the one hand talks of zero tolerance of human rights abuses and at the same time the human rights activists are not allowed to visit the victims of human rights abuses which depicts the gravity and intensity of the human rights violations and state repression in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. The Bar Association applause’s the courage and enduring efforts of Mr. Goutam Navlakha in highlighting the human rights abuses perpetuated by the state forces in Jammu and Kashmir in their drive of state repression. The Bar Association appeals the international community to take note of the serious event and call upon the Govt. of India to desist from cover-up of the human rights abuses and allow the human rights activists to visit free of any restriction the centre of human rights abuses i.e., the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
