The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Srinagar pays rich tributes to Shaheed Tufail Ashraf Mattoo son of Mohammad Ashraf Mattoo resident of Saida Kadal Srinagar on his first death anniversary which is being observed today on 11th of June 2011 across the state. In memory of the Shaheed Tufail Mattoo and one hundred twenty four innocent teen agers killed in 2010 by the state forces, the lawyers affiliated with the J&K High Court Bar Association suspended their work and abstained from appearing before the courts to morn the death of the deceased. In an extra ordinary meeting of the Bar Association while paying homage ot the departed soul it was observed that there is institutional denial of justice in Tufail Mattoo murder case similarly as there is denial of justice in Wamiq Farooq case and other cases of hundred twenty four martyrs killed in 2010. The Bar Association observes that since there is denial of institutional justice in these cases and the state is not interested at all in bringing the culprits to book as such independent and impartial international probe deserves to do justice with the victims and their families. Accordingly the Bar Association appeals international community to intervene and exercise their efforts in bringing the culprits to justice and protect the honour, dignity, life and property of the people of the Jammu and Kashmir. The Bar Association also calls upon the Govt. of India to release unconditionally all the political prisoners who are arrested and detained under PSA by the state authorities for their participation in protests which were made by the people against the murder of Tufail Mattoo, Wamiq Farooq and others.
In the meeting condolences were also paid to the father of Tafazul Hussain Ganai who passed away today on 11.06.2011.
